CASed: Understanding Complex Adaptive Systems
CASed is a service design project that aims to help companies and organizations understand and improve their functioning as complex adaptive systems (CAS). It does this through the use of a board game that simulates the interactions and dynamics of a CAS, allowing players to explore and experiment with different strategies and approaches.
The game is designed to be both educational and fun, and can be used as a tool for team building, strategic planning, and problem-solving. It can also be customized to reflect the specific context and challenges of a given organization, allowing players to apply the lessons learned to their real-world situations.
Through its interactive and experiential approach, CASed helps participants develop a deeper understanding of the principles and practices of service design, and how they can be applied to improve organizational performance and customer satisfaction. It is an innovative and engaging way to support organizations in their ongoing efforts to adapt and thrive in a rapidly changing world.

Initial Project Brief
Collecting primary and secondary Research on the French postal service, La Poste, using the elements of a Complex Adaptive System
This project was a part of a collaborative learning experience in Lacoste, France. The first 4 weeks of the project were dedicated to learning the elements of a Complex Adaptive System through primary and secondary research on the French postal service, La Poste.
Researching Elements of a Complex Adaptive System
Agents: The individuals, teams, and departments within La Poste that contribute to the organization's overall functioning and performance.
Artifacts: The physical and digital resources, systems, and processes used by La Poste to deliver its services.
Strategies: The approaches and tactics used by La Poste to respond to challenges and opportunities in its environment.
Success criteria: The measures and indicators used by La Poste to assess its performance and progress towards its goals.
Conceptual space: The broader context within which La Poste operates, including trends, regulations, and other factors that impact the organization.

Deliverable
Develop a product to help companies and organizations understand and improve their functioning as complex adaptive systems (CAS)
The second half of the project was dedicated to using what we learned about La Poste to develop a framework for companies and organizations to gain deeper understanding of the principles and practices of service design, and how they can be applied to improve organizational performance and customer satisfaction.
